Donate

City of Chelmsford Mencap does not receive any direct funding from Royal Mencap or government and therefore relies entirely on donations to run its services.  Every penny is vital in helping the charity maintain and develop its services to ensure it meets the needs of people with a learning disability in Mid-Essex.

Fundraise

There are lots of ways to raise funds for our charity, from spreading the word about our services and events to taking on exciting challenges.

Local businesses also support us, including our social media partners Lumbooja (pictured right), who use their skills to publicise and document our events.  They even got on their bikes to raise funds through a 24 hour bikeathon!

Support

Support us and help raise funds by coming along to one of our events.  We have some great annual traditions, including A Perfect English Summer's Afternoon tea party and Celebration of Caring and Carol concerts.

We also organise awareness events for Volunteers Week, Carers Week and Learning Disability Week and run a three week festival of caring, Nurture, in partnership with Mid-Essex Hospitals NHS Trust and Farleigh Hospice.

Support from local businesses also makes an important contribution through sponsorship of events, donating volunteer time, services or raffle prizes and providing valuable work experience placements for some of our lifelong learning students.  We are immensely grateful to Bassment, Frederick J French, Shakster Records UK, Supplies 4 Business and Wrights Building Services Ltd for their recent support!

Volunteer

City of Chelmsford Mencap could not run its services without the commitment and skills of our dedicated team of volunteers.  From supporting members accessing our services to helping out at awareness and fundraising events, every contribution is valuable to our charity.

The amount of time our volunteers offer varies from a regular commitment of a set number of hours a week, to helping out on an 'ad hoc' basis for a few hours a month.  There are also opportunities available during the day and in the evening, so there is a role to suit everyone.
